A new online publication urgently
requires the services of editors, who have proven experience as editors in an
online environment, excellent judgment on story selection, proven management skills
and be decisive and comfortable leading a team
Can you spot the errors in a
piece of prose, then standardize and adjust the text, so that even a novice
writer looks like a seasoned and polished author.

Your responsibilities will typically include:

Writing, editing, planning, fact-checking and
research tasks
·
Ensuring publishable articles that are devoid of
errors of grammar, punctuation and context
·
Generating ideas for features with editor –in –
chief and writing staff;
·
Fact-checking information after an article is
written and before it is uploaded;
·
Commissioning articles from freelance and
in-house writers;
·
Organizing meeting with writers and artists to
discuss ideas for artwork, layout and features
·
Understanding and complying with media law and
industry ethical guidelines
·
Sending out briefs to writers, which can include
word count, deadline, fee and writing style
·
Raising the profile of the online publication
·
Assisting other staff to meet their deadlines
Our Ideal Candidates must have the Following Qualifications:

Proven writing skills with an eye for details
·
Profound and interactive knowledge of Nigeria’s
political and socio-economic environment
·
Proficient use of the internet for research and
knowledge gathering
·
Capacity to deal with conflicting priorities and
deliver high quality work on schedule
·
Up –to –date and effective knowledge of the new
media.
This is a full time, on site
position located in Ikeja, Lagos.
