VACANCIES AT A POLICY THINK TANK BASED IN LAGOS



A public think tank based in Lagos, Nigeria with a mission to ensure that government action foster growth, economic well-being and freedom and individual responsibility” seeks to recruit exceptional person as “RESEARCH FELLOWS” focused on data management, quantitative analysis, economics and public policy
1.       Position: RESEARCH FELLOWS:
The organization seeks to recruit Research Fellows as soon as possible to work closely with and report to the Board of Trustees. The Research Fellow will set the research agenda for the organization and lead the research team in the creation, dissemination and utilization of high quality research.
The Research Fellows will be responsible for production of publications and dissemination of materials or activities on research results, research tasks to locate, review and synthesize relevant materials, preparation of research proposals; preparation of correspondence, reports and presentations, and exchange with other institutions working on a broad range of issues relevant to the organization’s core focus areas.

The Research Fellows should have the following skills and experiences:
·         PHD in Economics, development studies, mathematics, statistics, public policy, sociology or any related discipline
·         Respect relevant academic research and publication in the policy economics field
·         Ability to use statistical packages (such as SPSS)
·         Experience working in a policy research organization will be an advantage
·         Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
·         A working knowledge of French (would be an asset)
Compensation will be set according to the experience of the candidate.
2.       Position: RESEARCH ASSOCIATES:
The ideal candidates should possess a master’s degree with a strong academic background in economics, mathematics, statistics, public policy, sociology or any related discipline and will match the following profile:
·         Minimum of second class upper division
·         Aged between 25 and 35 years
·         Excellent written and verbal communication skills
·         Experience of publishing reports
·         Outstanding analytical, research and problem solving skills
·         Ability to deliver results in different environment (especially in a developing world context)
·         Ability to work both independently and in a team
·         Excellent project and stakeholder management skills
·         Ability to use statistical packages (such as SPSS) will be added advantage.
The selected candidate will ideally be expected to resume the post as soon as possible. The position will start with a three years contract with the option of renewal depending on performance.
