EXCITING JOB OPPORTUNITIES IN THE NIGERIA SOVERIGN INVESTMENT AUTHORITY (NSIA)



The NSIA is set up to receive, manage and invest in a diversified portfolio of medium and long term revenue of the Federal Government, State Government, Federal Capital Territory, Local Government  and Area Councils, in preparation for the eventual depletion of Nigeria’s hydrocarbon resources, as well as the development of critical infrastructure in Nigeria that will attract and support foreign investment, economic diversification, growth and job creation.

As part of ongoing initiatives to strengthen its operations and enhance its capacity to achieve its mandate, NSIA seeks to recruit exceptional, result oriented and suitably qualified professionals to fill the following positions:
Position: HEAD, INFRASTRUCTURE RISK MANAGEMENT (ES0094)
Reporting to the Executive Director/Chief Risk Officer, the successful candidate will be responsible for managing all infrastructure-related risks, including transaction and project-specific risks. Inherent in this will be to develop and implement an appropriate framework for providing consistent measurement, reporting and control of risks across the NSIA’s infrastructure portfolio.
Key Responsibilities:
·         Perform comprehensive risk assessments, including statistical analysis and provide up-to-date information to guide the Authority’s investment decisions.
·         Continuously review/assess the risk facing the NSIA’s infrastructure projects in order to pro-actively establish appropriate mitigation control and monitoring mechanism framework.
·         Interpret and analyze reports/data/information to identify possible risk exposure
·         Generate regular report to executive management on the risk profiles of the Authorities infrastructure investments
·         Stay abreast of the industry trend, events, issues and developments to assist/ enable to development and implementation of appropriate control measures, monitoring mechanism as required.
·         Define and implement various risk mitigation solutions including insurance options.
Knowledge, skill and experience
·         A good first degree in Economics, Finance or any Business related discipline from a reputable Institution.
·         Post-graduate degree(s) in any related disciplines and relevant professional qualification(s) will be an added advantage
·          A minimum of (10) years, five (5) of which must be in infrastructure risk management, preferably in a leading international investment bank or similar institution.
·         Excellent knowledge in risk management practices and practical hands-on experience of market, operational and cross-border risk management techniques and practices.
·         Strong understanding of risk management and infrastructure project development
·         Ability to think strategically and holistically and appreciate the impact of various policies, issues and solutions.
Position: GENERAL COUNSEL (ES0095)
Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the successful candidate will be responsible for the provision of legal services to the Authority on litigation, land/property document perfection, contracts and other transactions that have legal implications in order to effectively mitigate the Authority’s exposure. A key component of this role will be to provide comprehensive advice to management on the legal implications of proposed policies, decisions and actions.
Key Responsibilities:
·         Ensure that NSIA complies with appropriate requirements as stated in the NSIA Act and other legal documents guiding its establishment and existence
·         Coordinate, monitor and ensure the Authority’s overall compliance with statutory and relevant regulatory requirements.
·         Provide on-going legal and regulatory advisory for operational and investment-specific matters across the organization, as well as, interact with relevant regulatory authorities on behalf of the NSIA.
·         Manage relationship with external solicitors and arbitrator. Monitor and advice on litigation claims and ensure minimal damage is sustained by the Authority.
·         Coordinate the drafting of all legal documentation between the Authority and third parties as required, as well as, liaise with relevant authorities in perfection of title documents for the Authority’s acquired properties.
·         Handle routine and complex contract disputes and negotiations, as well as corporate matters.
 Knowledge, skill and experience
·         A good first degree in Law (L.LB. and B.L) and qualification to practice in Nigeria. Relevant professional and post graduate qualification will be an advantage
·         A minimum of (10) years relevant experience, four (4) of which must be been at  a strategic management level.
·         Good knowledge and understanding of Nigeria legal system
·         Excellent written and oral communication, negotiation and relationship management skills
·         Maturity and tact, including the ability to relate with different levels of authority within the legal sphere.
Position: COMPANY SECRETARY (ES0096)
Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer and Chairman Board of Directors. The successful candidate will coordinate all Board secretarial activities and provide guidance in the implementation of the NSIA’s corporate governance framework. He/she will also provide effective administrative support in the execution of the Authority’s corporate governance policies.
 Key Responsibilities:
·         Coordinate, monitor and ensure the NSIA’s overall compliance with statutory and relevant regulatory requirements.
·         Monitor and ensure appropriate and timely execution of the Authority’s secretariat functions.
·         Provide secretarial and administrative support to the Authority’s Board, including preparation of agenda, papers, resolutions, and minutes
·         Render all necessary secretarial services in respect to meetings and advise on compliance by the meetings within the applicable rules and regulations
·         Ensure the proper custody of the statutory and other books of the NSIA and also ensure that records are up-to-date.
 Knowledge, skill and experience
·         A good first degree in Law (L.LB. and B.L) possession of ICSAN  will be an advantage. Other relevant professional and post-graduate qualifications  will also be an advantage.
·         A minimum of (10) years company secretarial experience.
·         Good knowledge of leading practices in secretarial services and corporate governance.
·         Good knowledge and understanding of Nigeria legal system
·         Excellent written and oral communication, negotiation and relationship management skills.
·         Maturity and tact, including the ability to relate with different levels of authority within the legal sphere.
In addition, candidates for all roles must possess the following attributes:
·         Proven leadership, negotiating and influencing skills.
·         Excellent networking skills, particularly relationship – building, interpersonal and communication skills
·         Good understanding of the NSIA mandate, regulations and operating environment
·         High ethical standards and level of integrity.
